“I have yet to invest in survival food products myself, in part because I’m optimistic enough to believe that we won’t need them.”
This line irked me. I know it’s an opinion piece yet but this is insulting.

- yunwal 4y agoIt presumes that people need to be pessimistic in order to feel that prepping is worthwhile, for one. Prepping isn’t just about surviving the collapse of civilization. It’s about being ready and helpful when a natural disaster hits and your entire neighborhood is without electricity for a week. Basically, the mindset is more like “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”. Completely relying on a complex society and supply chain will leave you vulnerable.
