Even as a full time mac user, both at work and privately I have a hard time remembering which release, say Sierra was and which one Mojave was and which one came first and if any release was in between.
- bombcar 4y agoI only really remember Snow Leopard heh.
- shmde 4y agoIsn't that... Umm good ? Windows completely rehauls everything in every major releases and makes it difficult to navigate through.
- InCityDreams 4y agoBut at least we all know 3 came before 7, 11 followed 10 etc. Vista was 8. Dunno what happened to 9 but I'll never remember the order of 'name'. Same with android....kit kat was version what now?
- TillE 4y agoAndroid has always gone in alphabetical order, so you can work it out in a few seconds. Strangely I think it was easier to keep track of the order of OS X codenames when they were all big cats. It was more memorable.
- fomine3 4y agoApple naming is too Californian centric.
- nvrspyx 4y agoVista came before 7, so I guess it was 6? Then there was XP before that, which I suppose was 5?
- hocuspocus 4y agoWindows 2000 was NT 5.0, XP (32-bit) was NT 5.1, Windows 2003 NT 5.2. Vista was the first of the NT 6 series. However Windows 7, 8/8.1 and the related server versions were also NT 6.x
- gs17 4y agoAndroid is just alphabet order until they drop banned entirely for numbers, so at least you know which versions are newer.
- leviathant 4y agoIf you don't know what happened to 9, I'm kind of delighted to inform you that the version number was skipped because of all the legacy applications out there that matched against a string value of "Windows 9?" to determine if the OS was Windows 95 or Windows 98, instead of checking the actual version number that gets returned when you type ver in the command line.
- elSidCampeador 4y agono so it was Vista, 7, then 8 - which would make Vista 6
- INeedMoreRam 4y agoHyperbole much?
- lapcat 4y agoHere's a great reference of Mac version history: https://robservatory.com/a-full-history-of-macos-os-x-release-dates-and-rates/ https://robservatory.com/a-full-history-of-macos-os-x-releas...
