Im not really sure what the author is getting at because Terraform automagically does drift detection and there are unfortunately many reasons for drift, both cloud provider based and terraform upgrade changing api/defaults based. Obviously author saw a bunch of anti patterns they didn’t like but would be good to share more specific examples.
