- Gibbon1 4y agoTexas doesn't tax high earners as much as California. And taxes lower income people more while providing fewer services.
- s1artibartfast 4y agoDo you think higher taxes are intrinsically good? State tax revenue per capita are in Texas is about 35% of California's.
- Gibbon1 4y ago> State tax vs city and county taxes.
- s1artibartfast 4y agoFor state, Texas per capita revenue was 2.2k to Californias 6.3k. Do you have numbers for city and county? Best I could find was this: https://taxfoundation.org/state-local-tax-collections-per-capita-2021/ https://taxfoundation.org/state-local-tax-collections-per-ca...
- roenxi 4y agoIt is quite possible that Musk has given California more in taxes than everyone commenting on HN today, combined. A quick search suggests [0] he has order-of-magnitude billions in Californian tax liabilities. If he doesn't think there is value for money, it is appropriate that he moves. He doesn't have a moral responsibility to prop up California if he doesn't think they are spending his money effectively.
