Thing is, I don't really support the idea that the supply of good, functional, productive devs has increased that much. I'm over here just throwing out more resumes and giving no goes after interviews than ever.
It's apparently pretty difficult to be a good developer. Barrier to entry is low, but just because you can tap some code out doesn't make you competent.
My friend is still telling the story from two years ago when he went to interview some devs and even though their resumes looked good they couldn't even write a for loop to parse some lines from a file.
I'm as of this moment pretty secure that my pay will remain high for a while.
Edit: I want to clarify that the low barrier to entry is good, we do actually need more devs, but plenty of people don't take advantage of the tons of resources (online tutorials, bootcamps, hacker communities etc) out there to skill up and become productive and then expect to make lots of the monies.
