I just used linked lists to make an LRU hard limit on the number of items in an in memory store. Each usage, the pointers are updated to move the item to the head. Each time the list is at the limit, the tail is removed and freed. I may take advantage of the machinery to make it go onto free list. This was Go and the DLL thing is my first use of generics.
