Atom 1.0 is strictly and well defined in https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5023 https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5023 RSS is a bunch of different "standards" and good practices, its way more difficult to parse and play with. They both have the same goal, but one is just cleaner and stricter :)
