I was looking at buying some farm equipment to reap the rewards of that higher food price, but it certainly hasn't fallen in value. Very much the opposite. He has a point, though. On a developer salary, the basics like food and gas make up only a small portion of one's income. It may be an increasing portion, but still just a portion. The remainder can buy more, depending on what you want to buy.
