Good read and advice.
Scott, if you write about this in the future, please don't say "at least I'm not dying of X". People reading this might be, and you are basically saying "well, at least its not that". Yes, people with cancer, and dying of cancer, read HN, particularly when the subject is pain.
- jazzabeanie 4y agoThere’s always some way in which someone’s situation could be worse. Anyone can do that exercise.

- whycombinetor 4y agoI read that line as deference to those who are dying of cancer and recognition that their plight is worse than his. I don't see how that's disrespectful to those dying of cancer or would make them uncomfortable.
