Could The Internet Kill Off The Real Estate Agent?
- jsavimbi 15y agoI don't believe so. Albeit annoying, moneygrubbing sharks, they do provide a service to people who otherwise would need to spend inordinate amounts of their own time in selling something that although is a commodity is actually something extremely personal and the agent provides a needed stress buffer between the parties in order to achieve the sale/lease/rental, resulting in their compensation. I'd also consider them a decent proxy for airbnb bookings once they figure the internet out.
- Tushbee 15y agoI agree with your sentiments completely. I think that the internet should be as much a tool for their sales and lead generation than any other successful industry. Although many of the things realtors did 10 years ago can now be done by the homeowner, the knowledge, experience and network that a real estate agent can provide can be totally worth it (although at a lower commission to compensate for the work the homebuyers can do themselves).
