Perhaps it's a good thing for the government to reincentivize R&D inside of large tech firms by blocking deals like this? In my opinion, there is a huge incentive for large firms to buy rather than build right now, given the go-to-market risks with any new product launch. Externalizing that risk into VC funded firms and then paying for winners is a smart choice. But sadly the result often is that consumers have to eat the inevitable decline in product quality post-acquisition.
