I'm a "software systems engineer." I write a lot of code for various projects (I'm good at it), operate a spacecraft, do some sysadmining, and am leading a citizen science project. I'm not really sure what my title means. Sometimes I write software specs or list requirements. I've read a few definitions of SSE but as far as I can tell, it's not a well-defined discipline like mechanical engineering, philosophy, music theory, or geochemistry (my PhD). Shrug. I guess it's reassuring to see that lots of people have questions about what systems engineering is supposed to be exactly... I was worried I was missing something.
