Sproutcore 2.0 renamed to Ember.js - GitHub
- deleted 15y ago[deleted]
- nbashaw 15y agoSo Sproutcore 2.0 split into two camps, Ember.js and Amber.js? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, this is confusing.
- ibdknox 15y agoInstead of going with "amber.js" they went with "ember.js" sproutcore 2.0 = amber.js = ember.js They're all the same with the final one being the official new name.
- nbashaw 15y agoAhh thanks so much.
- firefoxman1 15y agonot to be confused with ender.js
- murz 15y agoKind of odd, it was announced as "Amber.js": http://yehudakatz.com/2011/12/08/announcing-amber-js/ http://yehudakatz.com/2011/12/08/announcing-amber-js/
- untog 15y agoI'm wondering if there was some kind of copyright/trademark issue at play here.
- wycats 15y agoNope. We just didn't feel good about the naming conflict. See http://yehudakatz.com/2011/12/12/amber-js-formerly-sproutcore-2-0-is-now-ember-js/ http://yehudakatz.com/2011/12/12/amber-js-formerly-sproutcor...
- pasbesoin 15y agoIt's nice to know that some people, even when they have a lot of clout, still choose to play nice. Classy. :-) (Purely in my personal and unweighty (as it should be) opinion.)
- chc 15y agoProbably just concern over confusion with Amber, a JS implementation of Smalltalk.

- murz 15y agoThanks, I missed that. It's interesting that they opted to go against the feedback they received from the HN majority :P
- curiouskat 15y agoamber.js had a nice feel to it -- ember.js, not so much.
- jrockway 15y agoWhat's in a name?
- curiouskat 15y agoEmotive resonance, mental imagery, branding.
- Zolomon 15y agoI like ember.js - makes me think of flames!!
- code_duck 15y agoFlames that have died. This might be better than a fossil, though.
- czheng 15y agoConfused this with ender for a second... (http://ender.no.de/ http://ender.no.de/)
- steele 15y agoNow I have to return my amber lamps.
