I doubt it's actually "shame" like the headline-writer wrote. It's more likely due to a realization that it was unwise to remind voters, even indirectly, of a message they'd rather they forget. Politicians lie and twist the truth, Biden's no exception (I recall a big speech after the Afghanistan that cherry-picked things to spin it into a success, rather than an embarrassing fiasco). The only difference with Trump is he was a compulsive liar, which made it more obvious. Other politicians tend to deploy their lies for better tactical and strategic effect.
