I'm a bit confused as to what exactly this is supposed to be. It looks like it's supposed to be able to search across a bunch of stuff like Slack, Spotify, cloud storage, local files such as Word or PDFs, etc. But it also seems to be something with automatic organization of files? Could you give a bit of a rundown of what is expected to come out with the closed beta coming in about a month? And maybe a bit about why I might use this instead of searching Dropbox (where I have most of my files, and it can search file content), or using macOS Spotlight/voidtools Everywhere? (or Evernote if someone uses that, etc.) Not trying to be negative about what you're making here, I'm just not entirely sure what it is quite yet and the main value proposition it adds other than maybe a better search than what I already have access to. (which if done well would in and of itself be a huge value proposition, which makes me think of the old Google product that would index your computer locally and provided a search on top of it)
- nunomotag 4y agoThese are very valid points, and we've heard this from other people after our launch (we definitely need to work on our messaging). So here is my attempt at a clear(er) rundown! We want to create a unified file manager for all the apps/services you use. You connect NeveMind to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneCloud, etc, and you can search through all of them using a single spotlight-like search bar. But the most exciting feature, imo, is that indexed files can also be analyzed for similarity. Whenever you create or download a new file, NeveMind can automatically create/modify folders (and their names) to accommodate for this potentially new type of content. Our ultimate goal is for our users not to have to search for anything, because "it just makes sense where things are". A self-organizing, cross-platform, file manager...? For the Closed Beta, we plan to include integrations with Cloud Storage services (Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneCloud), with others coming soon (e.g., Notion). We will support widely used file formats (PDFs, PNGs, TXTs, ...), alongside less appreciated ones (MP3s and WAVs will be searchable too!). Feel free to push back further, it will help us A TON. :D
