- bryanlarsen 4y agoThere are over 160 companies trying to design and build rockets. Any SpaceX monopoly is going to be temporary.
- reset2023 4y agoSpace X money comes from government grants. Their initial investment was 0, compared to competitors.
- bryanlarsen 4y ago1. SpaceX has received billions in investments. Elon orignally put in about $100million, since then they've raised billions more. 2. They mostly don't get government grants, they get government contracts. Do you call it a grant when the Forest Service buys an F-150 from Ford?
- reset2023 4y agoThis is not true he only put $100K https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceX?wprov=sfti1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceX?wprov=sfti1

- megaman821 4y agoDo you have any links to these government grants that Space X is getting? The government paying for a product that Space X produces is not a grant.

- reset2023 4y agohistory/second paragraph, whether you call it grant or any other way it's still just tax money https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceX?wprov=sfti1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceX?wprov=sfti1
- megaman821 4y agoYes, if you redefine the word grant to mean something else, Space X is only successful because of grant money. Words don't mean anything.
- avmich 4y agoThis valid concern should be addressed by creating one or, better, many SpaceX competitors.
- mensetmanusman 4y agoNatural monopolies happen everywhere. It’s easier to regulate a monopoly, but if you start too soon the whole thing dies. The government had decades to try this strategy and couldn’t figure it out.
