I was briefly confused, because I was recently charged that fee ( long story; I genuinely needed cell at that very moment -- first day at work ). Upon going through the story it seems that the fee was expanded to postpaid activation and upgrades. I was annoyed, but I was in a real bind so I just shrugged it off. But yeah, each time a merger is proposed remember that the customer gets squeezed in the end. How we ended up with the same 3 major telecoms as our cell providers is beyond me. No, I do not count virtual ones as real competition as they rely on original oligopolies and exist at their whim.
