- mikkergp 4y ago"Where you can directly edit misleading content." What the heck does that mean in the context of a social network.
- orionblastar 4y agoMinistry of Truth. Thought Criminals write things and they have to be rewritten. See 1984 a book by George Orwell.
- mikkergp 4y agoThis is the opposite of Ministry of Truth.

- orionblastar 4y agohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ministries_of_Nineteen_Eighty-Four#Ministry_of_Truth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ministries_of_Nineteen_Eighty-... The Ministry of Truth (Newspeak: Minitrue) is the ministry of propaganda. As with the other ministries in the novel, the name Ministry of Truth is a misnomer because in reality it serves the opposite: it is responsible for any necessary falsification of historical events. However, like the other ministries, the name is also apt because it decides what "truth" is in Oceania. It is not about truth, it is about rewriting truth so it is propaganda.
- mikkergp 4y agoIs it really truth if it is rewritten to be true? Maybe before the edit is the real edit. That, and only _that_ is where the true propaganda “lies”
- orionblastar 4y agoThis is what the mass media creates. The truth has been rewritten to one side or another. Wikipedia? https://www.ineteconomics.org/perspectives/blog/wikipedias-deep-ties-to-big-tech https://www.ineteconomics.org/perspectives/blog/wikipedias-d... Just another Mass Media company that edits things. The big question is what don't they want us to know? That's the truth.
- type0 4y agoYeah, bring wiki type edit wars to micro-blogging platform, who wouldn't want that /s
- lost_tourist 4y agomaybe anyone could not edit the original post, but attach comments as to why it is fake news with appropriate sources?
- cocoricamo 4y agoYou can already reply in most if not all social networks. This sounds like a feature that can and will be abused.
- crossroadsguy 4y agoI gave WT Social a run when it was launched. It felt worse than a school going child’s weekly web project. Besides I couldn’t figure out for the life of me what it does. All these people starting social networks get two things wrong - they trying to be “different” forcefully. And making something they want or believe others would want. Mark was smart enough to pivot to what he wanted after it became too big.
- richardatlarge 4y agoIt doesn’t take an app, it takes a village

- amadeuspagel 4y ago> Wales hopes to turn WT.Social into a full-fledged social media platform that does away with the algorithm and will "rank based on trust," Awesome. A website without "the algorithm". So some human is going to be doing this "ranking based on trust"? For every reply thread?
- richardatlarge 4y agoI’m probably wrong, but it seems like you either have a poorly policed site that attracts a diversity of views, or you have a socially responsive site that, by curbing bogus BS, becomes a PC echo chamber
