Elon Musk's plans to revive Vine face a problem: the reason it closed originally
- mcast 4y agoThe reason it closed was because Twitter execs were too greedy and creators were striking against the platform until there was a path to monetization. TikTok has its own Creator Fund, there's no reason why Vine couldn't have implemented short ads similar to TikTok.
- quantified 4y agoI see what you mean, but I think shortsighted or timid are better terms than greedy. If the paid-for content drove ad revenue above and beyond the creation cost, they'd actually be MAKING money. They'd need to work out how text tweets don't get subsidized while video does, or figure out the right way to subsidize text. Not that many text tweet contibutors would be worth paying, but not that many video ones would be worth it either.
- genmud 4y agoMusk seems to be flinging excrement at the walls and seeing what sticks. Nothing of what he is doing with twitter seems to be strategic in any way.
- jerojero 4y agoI'm sorry but there is no way people will go to vine now that Tiktok is a thing.
