China building an 'Even Larger Hadron Collider', which plans to be operation in 2030. With cheaper energy and more reliable energy input, PRC could claim leadership here also, unless the US manages to impose an effective oil embargo
- PaulHoule 4y agoOil is your last choice for generating electricity. It's used frequently in very poor countries that are always having rolling blackouts but if you can use anything else you will. China, for instance, is building large numbers of nuclear power plants, coal burning power plants, hydroelectric storage facilities, solar farms, wind farms, etc. So far as natural gas, which is still the dominant force in US and European energy, China is the sixth largest producer in the world and growing quickly: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_gas_in_China https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_gas_in_China
- hunglee2 4y agoYes, by 2030 China may well have weaned itself off oil - nuclear capacity coming online during the next decade is basically what the rest-of-the-world is trying to build in the same time frame.
