‘Get Igor Girkin’: hopes MH17 suspect could be captured fighting in Ukraine
- sorokod 4y agoFor the longest time Girkin was looking for a way to get into the actual fighting. Now that he was allowed to, two thoughts: * The RF authorities silenced an outspoken critic of the way the war has been (mis)managed. Girkin was getting very close to saying that Putin was a traitor without actually using these words. He was more explicit with regards to the rest of the political and military elite. * He should probably fear the Russians as much as the Ukrainians.
- mamonster 4y agoPretty interesting figure overall. For the longest time he was/is extremely angry at Russian authorities for not supporting him in 2014, but I guess he is now back where he started. Last I heard he is the Chief of Staff for a volunteer battalion, but nothing concretes so far. There is also absolutely 0 chance he is getting extradited ever. If he is captured, he will either be tortured (and killed) or in the absolute case scenario he will be rotting in a Ukrainian prison for the rest of his life. If you want to find out more about this guy's 85 Days in Slavyansk now has an English translation that is available on Amazon, obviously biased as it is a rebel's memoir.
