Twitter Limits Content-Enforcement Work as US Election Looms
- badwolf 4y agoAhh, I see Elon has his priorities. Immediately tackling ... Users being penalized for spreading covid-19 misinfo, and users penalized for targeting trans people.
- commandlinefan 4y ago> covid-19 misinfo I don't know, a lot of what was called misinfo a year ago has turned out to be correct.
- nells 4y agoRemember when you would get banned for saying that it could have been a lab leak? Those were the days.
- commandlinefan 4y agoI had my reddit account permanently banned for upvoting what was then called Covid misinformation.
- UncleMeat 4y ago"A lot" isn't the phrase I'd use here. Criticisms of various CDC policies around cloth masks are the big one. You could maybe include the gain-of-function stuff but the lab-leak theory hasn't "turned out to be correct." What else is there? That it'd go away by Easter? That it'd be less deadly than the seasonal flu? That the vaccines would give me 5G reception?
- thunky 4y ago> What else is there? How about anything and everything related to the vaccine that didn't agree with the official line. Suggesting natural immunity offers protection? Anti-vax misinformation. Question if vaccines are safe for babies? Misinformation. Publicly say that the vaccine isn't as safe or effective as advertised? Misinformation. It was a lot.
- NicoJuicy 4y agoPff, my current Twitter feed is informational with the current events. What happened during Trump was an idiotic shit storm which i hope can be blocked easily ( i do follow us politics somewhat, but not that kind of idiocracy).
- barbacoa 4y agoWithout corporations coordinating with the government to restrict information, I fear for the health of our democracy.

- kelseyfrog 4y agoFreedom of speech at any cost. The end result is just if the means are just even if it results in loss of liberty, life, and happiness. That's a small price to pay to be able to say anything, anytime, and anywhere.
- thinkmcfly 4y agoI enjoy this sarcasm very much
- kelseyfrog 4y agoIt pains me that I cannot (without falling to hypocriticism) tell you to shut up.
- mikkergp 4y ago"Freedom of Speech at any cost" Isn't this paradoxical? Our values don't exist in a vacuum they exist because they're believed at a macro world to make the world better, it seems if you tangibly think they make the world worse, or in your words "result in loss of liberty, life and happiness" the cost isn't worth it.
- kelseyfrog 4y agoFree speech absolutists assign an infinite utility to free speech so all other cost terms become negligible.
- nells 4y agoWow, loss of happiness :’( :’(
- kelseyfrog 4y agoNot really a concern, honestly. The cool about Stoicism is that you can just dial up your happiness without any regard to external circumstances because you and you alone are responsible for your emotions.
