Oh, My Pop Culture Religion: Rick, Morty, God, and the Devil
- drKarl 4y agoI have a really hard time wrapping my head around the idea that so many people still believe in god or gods or in so many superstitions in 2022. I like Rick and Morty a lot but the fact that Rick encounters the devil and cursed objects doesn't mean anything, it's just a show. I find it amusing that religious people think that atheist people don't have morals, or that only a deity can provide moral guides, when there's so many religious people doing terrible things (like pedophile priests). Also most of the moral guidelines provided by religion are utterly BS. In addition to that, some religions, like catholic religion, provide a way to commit any atrocity and feel ok with yourself by the way of "repenting and praying it away", which I guess it explains why so many people in prison is religious, although it probably correlates as well with the fact that religion feeds mostly on ignorance, and more educated people tend to be less religious, so people with lower economic status tend to have less education and be more religious. Still amazes me how many educated people are religious, specially wealthy conservatives. Anyway religion is on decline worlwide, and I expect it to be almost completely gone in a few decades from now...
