What caused my loss of interest was reading story after story of various subjects that I am deeply familiar with and coming away with the impression of "they got that all wrong" or "they seem to be spinning this story to fit a predetermined conclusion". Then realizing that nearly everything modern news presents suffers from this. I suppose one could mitigate this somewhat by following a diversity of sources, but I've found my approach of just disconnecting has left me more sane.
