KDE uses gpu acceleration for its ui. So that should be a negligible impact on performance. I am unsure about if you even have shadows with CPU rendering.

- tmtvl 4y agoUsing software rendering instead of OpenGL disables most if not all effects from what I remember.
- formerly_proven 4y agoiirc software rendering in kwin disables compositing alltogether
