What makes it ridiculous? Not all nuclear wars need be hundreds of nukes. The military has to plan for the full range of the scale, from small brush fire near a minor ammo depo to full blown WWIII. But the part that is 75% towards full blown WWIII is so often overlooked by commentators it's like it doesn't exist. I could come up with 100s of scenarios where most of the internet works but there is a recently-started nuclear war. (India vs Pakistan, for example.)
