I think this idea is great except for the whole making money thing, yes everyone here would love to have a twitter where you only see the content you signed up to de , us and a few million other folks who would use the app much less than advertisers would hope for. It would be perfect! And I can’t wait for the screen grabs advertising baby formula alongside said racial epithets But overall really, I don’t know how you get beyond the fact that the twitter we “want” is not the Twitter we’d use, unless Twitter becomes something else entirely. To be fair I don’t know why, maybe it’s Jacks vision that we all see content we disagree with, but for the most part I think twitters “tweets you might like” are just bad. They’re good at recommending accounts to follow but the “liked by” and “retweeted by”. Are almost always inflammatory, but in ways that are often irrelevant for the content I want to see. Tik Tok is much better at showing me content I might want to seee. I think this is one of the biggest problems with the current discourse of twitter. So much ink being spilt for “free speech” and none on what would make Twitter fun and interesting. It is kinda weird for DHH to take a stand on the company he’s spent his entire career trying not to be.
