Apple sold hardware. Twitter sells what, attention? And it sells it indirectly - to "advertisers". Which I guess can include traditional advertisers, political campaigns and people distributed about the political and ethical spectrum. I doubt the last group is willing to pay all that much, so losing the first group will hurt.
