MJB did a video on this yesterday. Basically these people (Meta execs) truly believe that VR/AR will be the near universal way to do things at some point in the future so they can't lose by being a first mover. I believe that to be so wrong it's hilarious and shows the depths of self delusion at play. And I say that as a share holder since IPO. Main fb platform has stagnated to irrelevance and I have real concerns about the long term viability of the advertising income streams in light of potential regulation.
