Honestly, it seems like one of the main [1] motivations for anyone participate on Wikipedia is to push some ideology or another. I know they theoretically have rules against it, but those are invariably enforced inconsistently and/or only against the most blatant cases. IMHO, some prime Wikipedia skills are finding bureaucratic cover and being deliberately mute about your motives. [1] though not only, another big one is obsession
