Apple: Chinese workers flee Covid lockdown at iPhone factory
- incomingpain 4y agoIt's unclear, but is the factory still operating? The workers are locked inside and expected to keep working?
- yummypaint 4y agoLast week, on 19 October, Foxconn announced it was banning all dine-in catering at the Zhengzhou plant and required workers to eat meals in their rooms. At the same time, the company told reporters it was maintaining "normal production" as the plant ramped up production of the latest iPhone 14 models. I Wonder what fraction of consumers realize their apple toys are made by people forcibly confined to barracks. People who do realize this and don't see themselves as misanthropes have a responsibility to vote with their money and not intentionally buy products contaminated with human missery.

I wonder what their contingency planning looks like under the assumption that instability due to covid craziness/taiwan/mass unrest/2024 election/etc. means that China bans exports of the iPhone in 3 / 5 / 7 / 10 years.
