I find these highly speculative theorizing about hypotheticals to really be a pointless exercise. At this point it's so abstract and theoretical, that positing a creator seems just as valid as positing what types of civilizations may be out there. Why should different forms of life follow some general pattern? Maybe there is life out there, and maybe we're the odd ones out.
