I was thinking that they should charge blue checkmark by the # of followers you have. the more followers you have, the more you have to pay. I wonder if it would incentivize people not to pay for fake followers as at least was a problem in the past.
- Sebb767 4y agoBuying followers for someone you dislike and then accusing them of doing so has been a strategy for quite some time; increasing the load on the victim does not help. Also, this would force large users into monetizing their account (assuming they are not super-rich).
- compsciphd 4y agothe first point I buy as an issue, the second I don't. people with large accounts are creating value of some sort out of their account. If they are a reporter or the like, their employer should pay for it. if you're somone with hundreds of thousands or millions of followers, why should twitter be effectively free to you?
