- dylan604 4y agoAre you saying that's what the decoded message from the satellite says?

- CamperBob2 4y agoMore awesome DSP detective work by Daniel Estevez. One of a very small number of authors/sites I upvote reflexively as soon as I see them show up on the page, before even following the link. If more people understood what this guy is doing, he'd be up there in the HN pantheon with Carmack, Bellard, Ken Shiriff, and Bunnie Huang.
- RF_Savage 4y agoYeah destevez has spent a long time doing this and now there's this modern #hearsat style crew who both receives the satellites and writes decoders for them. And it's almost fully fresh blood with young folks.
- alexmolas 4y agoThis post has been in the front page for more than 24 hours, and it has been unavailable to access for the majority of time. It's weird that it's still on the front page, also given the low number of points and comments it has... It also says it has been published 3 hours ago, which is not true...
- dylan604 4y agoLot's of references to a Blue Book that describes the various methods of encoding data in the signal. That's a lot of heavy lifting being done for the person doing the decoding. There's still a lot of work to get to that signal though, so I'm not dismissing any of that effort. What would be curious would be how long to decode a signal without that reference book. So for example, if we received an actual data encoded signal from another country, another planet, etc. Something reminiscent of Contact. How do people go about finding that "primer" to show them the way?
