The only thing that matters is who you know. Business plans and financial models don't matter. If you know people with money and have a relationship with them going back a long time, that is how you raise money. I've come to learn this after spending 1000s of hours making business plans and pitching in europe and silicon valley. People often think that with a good idea, prototype and plan you can raise. We were not able to do that. Meanwhile, other people with a much shittier prototype in the same problem space, but with connections, were able to raise money. They went bankrupt and we are still around, bootstrapped.
