Ask HN: Books covering best practices in advanced multithreaded design in C++
I'm looking for books or online resources showing best practices in use of atomics, barriers and locks in the design of multithreaded realtime applications in C++. I am specifically looking for actual implementation examples and architecture examples and not just covering the basic theory or use.
Background/context:
I am working on an application where I need to share various datastructures between threads. I've been using atomics but as the complexity grows it becomes hard to review code for "correctness". My goal is to avoid holding locks for long periods of time. Since this is a realtime application I also want to avoid waiting. So lock-free, wait-free is preferred.
