- PenguinCoder 4y agoAnd who decides what is offensive? The same party responsible for sending you to jail for it? Dystopian.
- PartiallyTyped 4y agoDidn’t class-traitors arrest people who were against the monarchy during the mourning days of the last queen’s death?
- a1369209993 4y agoNo, because there's no legitimate expectation of loyalty to a 'class', so one can't be a traitor to it (see also "race-traitors" etc). Armed thugs arrested people who were against the monarchy. (Well, I guess I should say "allegedly", since I haven't personally confirmed it, but I don't see any particular cause for scepticism.)
- tim333 4y agoI'm not sure what "class-traitors" would be but the police arrested a few protestors and then released them again. Eg. here https://edition.cnn.com/2022/09/16/europe/anti-monarchy-protests-police-intl-gbr/index.html https://edition.cnn.com/2022/09/16/europe/anti-monarchy-prot...
- gambiting 4y agoWhile the actions of the UK government are worrying, I think saying that UK is "nearly there"(with "there" implying Saudi Arabia) is very disingenuous. No one is going to prison for criticising the PM online, nor is there any intention to do that.
- club_tropical 4y agoDifferent societies have different political formulae and therefore different sensitive points. In KSA, that’s the monarchy, in UK, that is the assumption of human equality (which is the assumption undergirding human rights and all biology-blind policies). You can already lose your job and your money for speaking out against egalitarianism in the UK, and slowly you will be losing freedom as well.
