Leech, by Hiron Ennes. Gothic SF/horror story, set in a cold northern town built around a crumbling chateau. A doctor from the Institute is sent to find out how the previous doctor died, because the Institute has always known immediately when one of their own dies, until now. Memorable characters inhabit an unsettling world. Afterparty, by Daryl Gregory. SF yarn in which a startup created a drug that makes you know that God is real and loves you. The protagonist is one of its creators who had too much of it, and is now followed around by an archangel in a lab coat that only she can see. The drug was never released because of side-effects like this, but now it’s been spotted in the wild and she wants it eradicated. This one is tons of fun.
