GM suspends advertising on Twitter to evaluate its direction under Elon Musk
- hunglee2 4y agoworth noting the moment: private sector corporate actors, contesting public sector cultural concerns.
- sp332 4y agoAdvertisers have always been choosy about what kind of content their ads are placed near.
- dikaio 4y agoGM, late to electric; first to a baseless boycott. Musk should just buy GM.
- rdtwo 4y agoWould have been a much better purchase than twitter actually. Besides GM customers and trump supporters is a pretty large overlap. Blue Americans buy foreign branded autos.
- replygirl 4y agoi'd rather know acceleration than velocity
- lost_tourist 4y agoI tell all my Elon fan friends they are going to be sorely disappointed with what happens next. It's not going to be a Trumpian wonderland, even Elon isn't going to toss $44 billion down a hole. It shows very poor sportsmanship for GM to act like a child and step back from Twitter before anything really even happens. Who is running the show over there?
- amadeuspagel 4y agoTo make twitter less dependent on big advertisers, Musk should make it easier for individuals to advertise on twitter. Many derive some direct financial benefit from twitter - for their career, for their business, but don't bother to use twitter ads. If twitter added a "promote" or "boost" button to every tweet, maybe that would change.
- firstSpeaker 4y agoWith Apple standing at the corner waiting for any of the social media companies making money from the app (in this case selling boosts) I wont be surprised if Musk come up with some solution that wont need him paying Apple a substantial cut from a feature like boost.
- midislack 4y agoHahaha this is very, very rich. Almost too rich to even digest. Hearty LOL!
