Can this be the future of clothing? If it’s biodegradable and/or compostable, it can be used for single use underwear or body suits over coats etc.
It’s not easy to find seamstresses these days and prêt-à-porter is too basic..and common.
More than high fashion, this ought to be affordable..starting with thermal layers or undergarments.
- smt88 4y agoWhy would I want single-use clothes when I could have multi-use clothes? Most of my clothes last 5+ years, so cost-per-wear is very low (probably less than $1 for everything, and possibly less than 1 cent for certain things like socks).
- jelliclesfarm 4y agoIts not for all clothes and suitable for those that are close to skin..‘painted on clothes’. The possibilities are endless if it’s breathable. For women’s clothes and fashion needs, it creates contours and silhouettes with some fabrics. If it’s biodegradable, it can be recycled or composted. There is no need for a seamstress. Clothes can be affordably fitted and custom. It will reduce manufacturing costs and labour..not to mention long supply chain. Certainly sustainability points as it would mean less reliance on fossil fuels. Most clothes end up in the landfill. Labour is from developing countries because it’s a super low wage job. We still need the clothing industry..but this is suitable for for close-to-skin, fitted fabric or sport/outdoor wear or under garments etc.
