Haha, from the FAQ:-
Why is it not packaged as a gem?
To make it run faster.
How fast is it?
Very fast
cos, you know, I really need my todo list manager to be as performant as possible at the expense of install convenience.
- CaveTech 15y agoA whole new meaning to "managing your time wisely"
- rb2k_ 15y agoAlso: why would it be slower as a gem? A gem is also just a zip file that gets downloaded and extracted
- cytzol 15y agoI don't know enough about how gems work, but the 'hub' script is faster when installed manually than when installed as a gem: https://gist.github.com/284823 https://gist.github.com/284823
- minhajuddin 15y agoThis is just from my experience, I have tried many gems which allow managing tasks, dooby (https://github.com/rafmagana/dooby https://github.com/rafmagana/dooby) is one that comes to mind. It takes almost a second to list my tasks, Now, I know that it's not much. But, the percieved slowness has made me avoid this. That's the reason I didn't put it in a gem. Just for comparison, I did create a gem initially, but it was taking 0.5 s when compared to the 0.05s without the gem infrastructure. As someone mentioned the 'hub' gem does this too.
