I'd imagine Twitter withholding data would make any potential buyer have doubts. He also could have been trying for a better price, which any buyer is foolish not to at least try. Or he wanted to box them into a deal with a take-away, forcing twitter to publicly state intentions to complete the deal. All of this, (yours & mine), are still purely speculative.
