It is quite common in LBOs to terminate entire departments, what is unusual is the speed this is being executed. Elon maintains he purchased Twitter to preserve free and open communication, indicating this wouldn’t have been possible with the now previous leadership. Maybe he also purchased it because, at one time, he thought it was undervalued. Either way, the solutions to realize either goals would be like any other LBO, downsizing and restructuring. This scale of layoffs shouldn't be a surprise.
