- tnorthcutt 4y agoAre you open to sharing the code you use to generate this?
- kevinfiol 4y agoSure: https://github.com/kevinfiol/youtube https://github.com/kevinfiol/youtube Some things to note if you'd like to use it: 1. I deploy to Github Pages via Github Actions. See .github/workflows/build.yml for details. The only thing you might wanna change here is the `schedule` of how often to build your page 2. I define my subscriptions in src/feeds.json. It's just an array of tuples [name, rss_url]. 3. I currently redirect to an Invidious instance. You can modify the `YOUTUBE_URL` const in scripts/render.js to `youtube.com` if you don't care for this EDIT: By the way, I also wrote this scrappy user script to quickly download my youtube subscriptions as JSON: https://gist.github.com/kevinfiol/da63cd137327b8f8d6b70706017320ef https://gist.github.com/kevinfiol/da63cd137327b8f8d6b7070601... It'll just create a `get feeds` button at https://www.youtube.com/feed/channels https://www.youtube.com/feed/channels
- pradn 4y agoThis is actually fantastic. I think we need alternatives like this for every other "algorithmic feed" website. Twitter has become unusable and toxic for me in recent years. It seems like most of the tweets are recommendations - those liked by my follows or their friends. It's maddening to not have control. It seems like no matter how much I try I can't help but see vitriolic politics tweets, million-like jokes, etc.
- MandieD 4y agoThat is seriously useful on so many levels - thank you for sharing!
