This may just be a quirk of how this sentence was written, but wouldn't ensuring agreeable views that were once removed not count towards enlarging the marketplace of ideas? It may never be totally free, but he doesn't seem to be contracting what can be in the marketplace.

It's because he's enlarging exactly one segment, his own political views. That will eventually come at the cost of others, who just don't want to deal with misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, etc. They will withdraw from the market, leaving it without those ideas and creating the same sort of insular platform, just with a different bent.

  Liberal Parler wouldn't even match the viewership of MSNBC/CNN. None of them would want to be on a platform exclusively filled with people like them, because they take pride in the repetition of what authority figures have told them and have a disdain for "research," which makes them boring. More liberals watch Tucker Carlson (although I don't know how anyone can stand him) than watch any MSNBC or CNN show. > It's because he's enlarging exactly one segment, his own political views. We'll see, but I think that a lot of people narcissisticly project beliefs on Musk that are exactly the opposite of things that they would like to see (and did see) censored (and a lot of fanboys who do the opposite.) Neither Trump, Musk or Putin are symbols meant to equally and oppositely oppose all that you support; you actually have to look up their opinions on things to have an accurate view of the world, rather than simply assume that they designed their opinions to be the opposite of yours. They don't know you.

  The existing state of the platform is that Side A is dominant and Side B is fringe, enforced by moderation policy. Both sides represent an approximately equal number of Americans. Elon wants to make Side B no longer fringe. Your complaint is that Side A can't take it? One word: tough. Or, to borrow a phrase I'm tired of having quoted at me: If all you've known is dominance, equality feels like oppression.
