Disclosure: principal at AWS. Im a +1 to at least part time in the office. I do think meaningful in person interactions are important to team building and acclimation. On the topic definitely have him check with the specific hiring manager on team office days/expectations. Some teams are very “flexible”, rarely if ever coming in to the office. Others are in every day. If his assigned team doesnt match what hea looking for its better to change ASAP, like before the first day.
