Why Do People Distrust Institutions More Than Ever?
- codefreeordie 4y agoPeople distrust institutions more than ever because we have an ever-increasing parade of conclusive proof that they will lie, cheat, and generally do whatever it takes to get the result they want, truth and law be damned. In other words, because we're not as thick as we look.
- chiefalchemist 4y agoTrust and Truth are not synonymous. They are related, yes of course. But Trust is something that is earned. No one can forced to trust X or Y. If you're trusted because of manipulation then...you're not actually trusted. Red flag. On the other hand, contrary to those demanding they be trusted, truth is often a spectrum. Witnesses see the same crime yet each has a different recollection. Same truth, but different experiences breed different interpretations. This is the way life works. To insist otherwise is grounds for trusting that entity less. And less. And less. The entiry leads its own demise. Funny how that and a lack of ownership and accountability go hard in hand. The question isn't why do people trust these institutions less? The question is, why should they be trusted at all?
