While I'm against forcing a company to use a specific connector (especially Apple where every millimeter counts), I think this was way overdue because of terribly slow USB 2.0 speeds even on "Pro" models that shoot ProRes and 48MP raws.
- scarface74 4y agoYou realize that nowhere in the “mandate” are any speed requirements and most cheap USB C cords only support USB2 speeds?
- can16358p 4y agoPractically, I'd be really really surprised if Apple moved to USB-C but still keep USB 2 speeds. Moreover, even the cheapest USB-C devices and cables I've seen happily work over USB 3 and I've yet to see anything with USB-C form factor that doesn't support USB 3 even if it's not mandatory.
- scarface74 4y agoYou mean like on the brand brand new 10th generation usb C iPad? https://www.macrumors.com/2022/10/27/ipad-10-slower-usb-c-port/ https://www.macrumors.com/2022/10/27/ipad-10-slower-usb-c-po...
- can16358p 4y agoThat's stupidly absurd on Apple's side. Let's hope they don't do the same with the USB-C iPhones then.
