unless there's a fundamental difference in labor costs for US vs foreign fabs (i.e. the general reason manufacturing has left the US), I don't see why its "doomed to fail". What's the fundamental difference between building a fab in Taiwan, US, Europe, Israel or wherever else besides for the ongoing labor cost?
