The Biden admin has clearly signalled that it resents Musk personally due to his political views, but this probe was launched last year, and is completely unrelated to that.
- club_tropical 4y agoNo. Probes are easy to launch; all strategically important companies, people, and even local authorities have a list of associated ”probes” either active & simmering (like Tesla) or pending with the probable cause for launching a probe in a database somewhere. Usually, it will result in some sort of cost-of-doing-business fine or not be prioritized at all. Then, occasionally, someone gets uppity and the simmering pot gets the gas turned up.
- concinds 4y agoI do point out here that the timing of this leak (which clearly came from the DoJ itself) is very suspect, given that it could have depressed Tesla's stock price, and it came right before Musk is expected to need to sell a little more $TSLA to finance the Twitter deal: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33354143 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33354143
